A&S Classes
We have several classes available, on topics ranging from costuming, to archery, to book-binding, and more! Find out more on the class schedule page.
The Wyewood Pas d' Faux
This is a competition in which the goal is to produce something which is not period, or not documentable in period and present it as though it were a serious A&S entry. An example which has been done: Documenting the collection of the sticky inner bark with its silvery outside from the renowned fields of Dux Tapé.
Documentation should include:
- a description of the item
- fabricated "Quotes" from period sources
- illustrations are good!
And of course, the item itself.
Depending on how things go we may split between whimsical and serious entries.
Judging will take place at 1pm on Saturday (Open display is from 11am - 5pm). Contestants are welcome to explain their projects to the judges.

A Celebration of Heraldry!
It's period, it's decorative, it identifies people, places, and things... What isn't there to celebrate about heraldry? To celebrate the art and function of heraldry, there will be a decorative heraldic contest at A Celebration of Chepstow. Put your thinking coifs on, because the theme is...
The Strangest, Most Unusual Thing You Can Put Heraldry On!
We've all seen heraldry on banners and shields. Boxes, tables and tents aren't all that unusual, either. My Lords and Ladies, let us get creative! Everyone attending, of any background or experience, is invited to think of an object that you've never seen heraldry on and make it happen. The more participants we have, the more we all become winners by helping each other get great ideas for using heraldry.
You don't need to have your own registered heraldry to participate. The kingdom and many local branches have populace badges that may be used by any of the members of the group. Links to images of various populace badges can be found below.
Criteria for entering:
- Items shall have been made within 6 months of the event.
- Items shall be medieval in nature (Documentation not necessary; I just mean that we don't want to see the heraldry on your Coleman Stove)
- Items shall be suitable for public display
- Heraldry displayed shall be registered with the SCA College of Heralds. (Remember, you can always use populace badges if you don't have your own heraldry! See below for populace badge links.)
If you have items that were not made within 6 months of the event, or are not registered, and are therefore not suitable for the contest, you are still very welcome to display them to inspire the viewers.
Criteria for judging:
- The originality of what item has heraldry on it
- Attractive execution of heraldry
Criteria #1 is the primary thing. If we have to choose between 2 or 3 fabulously unusual items, then we will use criteria #2. In this case, bad drawing on a really surprising item is better than a fabulously decorated box.
We'll see you at a Celebration at Chepstow!

Chirurgery Classes
Two chirurgery classes will be offered to the general populace:
- Campsite safety and first aid
- First aid kit in a ziploc baggie
In addition, a series of half-hour chirurgeonate classes will be held at Chirurgeon's Point (the exact class schedule is yet to be determined). All are welcome, but these classes will be angled more at chirurgeons, functioning as ongoing training and review, so will assume some background knowledge.
Friday Night Game Hall
Please join us for a game night! If you are looking for something to do after setting up camp, stop by the covered areas on Friday evening at 7:00 PM until 11:00 PM. Everyone is welcome to come and set up their favorite period or non-period games! We wanted to design an area for those who want to play board games, or any table game, but sometimes don't have a partner to play with!
This part of the event is to encourage people to come, play their favorite game, meet new people, teach others how to play, and just have a relaxing evening. Could be as easy as Nine Holes, to hearing shouts of "checkmate" during an intense game of Chess!
There will be some game boards set up for those who wish to borrow or try a new game. Please bring additional lighting for when it gets darker and any food or beverages you might want!
For additional entertainment, Bardic Circle will be close by which starts at 9:00 PM.

Medieval "Baseball" (Stool Ball)
The game we know as baseball may be relatively modern, but it has medieval roots. Many bat-and-ball games were played throughout the Middle Ages at religious festivals and events, and these are the games that eventually developed into baseball and cricket.
In the evening, we'll be playing a simple "plausibly period" bat and ball game called Stool Ball (no one knows for certain what the game rules were during period, so the game we'll play is extrapolated from what little we do know) on the main field. The game is open to all ages. If you'd rather not play, bring a blanket to sit on and come cheer for us, and enjoy a night at the old ball game... the really old ball game!
Ladies' Gathering on Sunday
Greetings miladies, please join Countess Elisabeth for a ladies' gathering. Please bring your favorite cup and beverage, hand sewing, or just yourself and have a great time while taking a break from the classes, fighting, and shopping. There will be some munchies while we sit and chat. The gathering will start at 11am or shortly after Rapier Brunch Brawl.
Dance activities
Lord Trahaearn will be instructing the dance on Saturday Night which begins at 9pm. Lady Sara will teach a dance class in the afternoon on Saturday, time TBA.
