Unto all Noble Lord and Ladies who bear witness to these words, Greetings! Here forth let it be known that on the 30th day of July in this our 40th year Anno Societatis, as we gather on the shores of the River Wye, and in honor of our beloved Saint Martha, whose feast day we celebrate this weekend, there shall be a most noble Pas D'Armes.

I, Lord Sebastian ffraser, squire to Earl Edward Cire of Greymoor, and Captain of Fyrdmen of Wyewood, welcome all able bodied Lords and Ladies to the field of combat which I shall prepare. It shall be my honor to prepare a mid-day meal and provide a place for the inspirations of the combatants to watch the deeds of the day.

Who shall be allowed to do combat.

All combatants shall bear upon their person and their shield, heraldry of which, they have the right to bear. Those without proper standing shall be permitted to bear the Badge of those they are sworn in fealty to. The badges of Baronies, Shires, and Households shall be allowed, so long as the coat and shield which bear them, are in good service and appealing to the eye.

Let me be clear on this point, a surcoat, tabard, or their like is required to enter this tournament, if a combatant chooses to fight with a shield, it too shall bear proper Arms. Without such, the Marshals shall not allow you to take the field.

Who shall not take the field.

How the tournament shall be conducted.

All those who wish to do deeds this day should make their mark on the field Lists no later than 12 of the clock.

At 2 of the clock, the combatants shall join in a processional, where they shall introduce themselves, and their inspiration, either by Herald, or by personal word, to the Royal Patrons of Wyewood. Every combatant shall be entitled to 2 attendants to assist at the Lists. Peers of the realms shall be entitled to 4, while His Majesty and His Highness of the Realm shall be entitled to as many attendants as they see fit, though we do humbly ask that the number be less than 10. Event Heralds will not be available to assist the combatants, if you wish to have a herald cry you praises and those of you inspiration, you should include one as one of your attendants.

Following the introductions, the fields of combat shall be opened for a period of 3 hours. No combatant shall be required to fight for the full 3 hours, but may do so if they wish.

All combat shall be A'Pleasance. To whit, no combatant shall make use of a steel blade, and no combatant shall use their waster in any manner of thrust. An exception shall be made for dagger vs. dagger combat and spear vs. spear combats.

The Marshals shall conduct inspections at any time necessary.

How a fight should be done.

Any combatant (the Challenger) may ask another (the Challenged) to do combat on either the open field or at the barrier.

The Challenged shall accept or revoke the challenge at his leisure. Should he accept, he shall be entitled to choose the weapons for that combat. Like weapons should be chosen when possible, however skill and daring may over ride this guideline.

As a kindness to the gallery, the combat should be announced so that those who wish to be attentive, can be.

Each encounter shall be between 2 combatants, no more, and obviously, no less.

Each challenge shall continue until both the Challenger and the Challenged have delivered 3 blows each.

Each blow shall be worth a set number of points, and shall not cripple the receiver in any manner.

A blow to a leg or arm shall be worth 1 point.

A blow to the skull shall be worth 2 points.

A blow to the body shall be worth 3 points.

The winner of the engagement shall be determined by he who gathers the most points during this exchange.

Who shall be named winner of the tournament.

There shall be two winners this day.

The first shall be the combatant who shall tally the most points in the course of the day. It shall be the responsibility, of each combatant to honorably keep track of their own points. This winner shall be given a seat at the High table for the feast following the Tournament.

The second winner shall be determined by the gallery's choosing. All combatants should, in good grace, honor the gallery in all matters. The award for this winner shall remain a secret until the time the gallery has made their choice.

So say I,
Lord Sebastian ffraser
Squire to Earl Cire of Greymoor
