Stool Ball ("Medieval Baseball")
Game host: Lady Wenyeva atte grene
The game we know as baseball may be relatively modern, but it has medieval roots. Many bat-and-ball games were played throughout the Middle Ages at religious festivals and events, and these are the games that eventually developed into baseball and cricket.
Stool ball is the likely ancestor of both cricket and baseball. Anyone who wants to play can play (all ages welcome), and spectators are welcome too! Here are the rules and more information about the game.
Wear comfy clothes if you are going to play, and I recommend bringing water to stay hydrated while playing. Peanuts and a medieval version of Cracker Jacks optional. ;)
Wyewood challenges the other branches in the area to the regional stool ball championship! Will anyone take up this challenge?
Kubb
Game host: Lord Michelino di Gino Martini
Kubb is a Scandinavian game that is a sort of variant of Skittles. There is a possibility that it's not actually old... but who knows? It's at least quite similar to some known period games. It's fun and is enjoyed at many events.

Bocce is also a bowling type game. Queen Elizabeth I was an avid fan of the sport.

Battledore and Shuttlecock
Game host: Tymme Lyghtfellow
Medieval badminton, in which we'll hit a shuttlecock back and forth with wooden paddles (battledores). This game has ancient origins. The goal of the game is to keep the shuttlecock in the air as long as possible!
Here are some Wyewoodians trying out the game at a recent (non-garbed) social:
Board games
We'll have a board game center under one of the picnic shelters. There will be medieval games to play, and you may bring your own as well. (Medieval or plausibly medieval only, please!)

Footraces
Game host: Lady Wilhelmin Weissenheimerin
Famous medieval runners included St. Cuthbert, Harold I "Harefoot", and Henry V. We'll have races in honor of these famous runners, including standard foot races, sack races, bell races, and more...
...and other games!
We have lots of ideas. Stay tuned to see what we add to the schedule!
