New stripey socks on my stumpy feet
I finished knitting the pair of socks I’ve been working on! It feels good to finally get something finished. It has been a while.
Technical info for the knitters:
Yarn: OnLine Supersocke 6-fach (6 ply), 150g skein, I still have a bunch left. 75% wool, superwash.
Needles: US 5, the new KnitPicks interchangeable needles. These needles are amazing. I may never use anything else again. Anyone want to buy a Denise or Needlemaster needle set?
Method: magic loop with a 40″ cable. Figure 8 cast-on. Short row heels. 2×2 rib all the way up the ankles.
Pattern: Put together from several toe-up sock patterns and tutorials on the net.
The yarn is nice — it’s 6 ply so it knits up quickly and I love the colors, shades of lavender and gray. And it came in a big skein so I can do something with the leftover yarn. I might make a hat.
Hey! Those socks look fantastic! Nice work.
I think I’m going to have to try this magic loop thing I keep hearing about. Sounds like it’s a lot of fun once you get the hang of it.
Cheers!
Thanks! Yes, magic loop is awesome in several ways. 🙂 I highly recommend it.
Love those socks! They look really comfy. Could you post where to find this yarn? I have no LYS, so I’ll have to order it. I like the idea of using bigger needles. I have the KP circs in the #0 – #3 sizes, so this would be an excuse to order some interchangeable larger sizes. They are so fantastic. I try to conceal my pity when I see knitters using Denise sets.
I think that hat might end up being my first Fair Isle project after Christmas. Thanks for sharing.
I realize this is late but are you still interested in selling the Denise or the Boye sets?
