How to use this website

This collection of webpages is meant to serve as a resource and as an online textbook. By using hypertext (we'll talk about what that means in a bit), we can make these pages more useful than a plain paper textbook in many ways.

If you like, however, you may print these pages out for later reading, since you may not always have access to the Web when you want to view these pages.

Each chapter has exercises for you to complete. Please do these exercises as you are reading the chapters. If you do this, you'll find that it is much easier to learn and remember.

Whenever you see HTML code demonstrated on the pages, you should try out the code for yourself. If you just read about it, it won't stick in your memory. Trying to do the examples will make the learning process easier. For this reason, you should always read the chapters for the first time while at your computer, so you can try the examples and exercises.

Why is the text narrow?

If you have a high resolution monitor, or a very large window for your browser, the text here might seem a little narrow. This is to make it easier to read. It's hard to read text with lines that are too long.

If you have any comments or questions, please let me know. Thanks!
