E-mail just received in the unsubscribe mailbox for one of the mailing lists I run, with the subject “BE CAREFUL”:

“HELLO.

“STOP DESTOMBING MY BOX OR I WILL FORWARD YOU SITE TO MICROSOFT SO YOU HALF TO BE VERY CAREFUL

“THANK,S.”

Uh, yeah. I guess.

    I’m always amazed when someone signs up for a mailing list and then is all surprised and upset when they get, you know, email. What exactly where they expecting?

    In this case I believe that he didn’t subscribe intending to be a subscriber. He most likely subscribed to send spam, which has been a problem in the past on this particular mailing list.

    In fact, based on his name (which is the same as one on this list of Nigerian gangsters) and writing style, I imagine he joined the list to send a 419 spam. And got “spammed” back. HA!
