I’m not planning to move to Guam or anything, but for some reason, I found What’s It Like to Live on Guam? to be fascinating reading about a place that’s part of the US while being at the same time utterly foreign.

I guess I won’t be able to listen to the Mariners at work any more. Major League Baseball wants $9.95 for the privilege, now.
In last Friday’s Puget Sound Business Journal, an item ran listing the names of eight new hires at a local marketing and public relations company. Last Thursday, five of those new hires had been laid off — the day before the item ran.
Pretty soon they’ll just be laying people off before hiring them. can we get unemployment in that case?
Reality show“Big Brother” is returning to CBS. I am embarrassed to admit it, but I actually liked Big Brother last year. Guilty pleasure, yes, absolutely. But I did enjoy it.
I don’t post there very often, but I read Metafilter every day. Today. Metafilter is 2 years old! Happy birthday!
Why do we need the music industry? We don’t. If you still think the industry isn’t corrupt beyond saving after reading the articles at this site, you’re much more optimistic than I am. Or you’re in denial. Or you’re an executive from a major record label.
Sorry. I haven’t posted for a while. It just hasn’t been in me. I wanted to post something about the earthquake last week, but I couldn’t bring myself to write it. An odd thing, that quake. We had no serious damage here, but it affected me strongly all the same.
Anyway. Elvis Costello has made a list of The 500 albums you need. I’f I were making a list of my own, several of his would be in it. He didn’t include his own work. Despite that, it’s a good list. I think there are a few things on it I need to check out.
