If you are researching the Fultons and Fourtners, or if you are researching Shell Rock, Butler County, Iowa in the late 1800s, you will probably find our Historical Documents page helpful. We have maps and family bible records available for you to view there.

A caveat:

I can't vouch for the integrity of all the sources I've used. Some seem pretty reliable and others you WILL want to take with a grain of salt.

Much of what is here is fairly reliable, IMHO. Even so, you will want to verify what you can before relying on what is here. I do include my sources, so you can judge for yourself. Some of the sources are secondary or tertiary (sometimes other websites, whose sources in turn may be reliable or not), so please use your judgment. If you are a real stickler for proof -- a careful genealogist -- you might want to throw out some of this material until you can verify it -- but perhaps it will give you some hints on where to start looking for clues, and that is why I place it online.
